Review of The Farm by Richard Benson

Richard Benson the author was brought up on a farm but does not take to farming. In fact he is a liability. He leaves for London to work as a journalist and returns following a call from his dad with news that they need to sell the farm which the Benson farm has worked for generations.
I must confess that I struggled with this book and at one time almost put it down. The first half was I thought pretty boring. Very slowly like the pace of the book it improved. I did however enjoy the relationship between Richard and his younger brother Guy and it did open my eyes to the power of the supermarkets and the plight of the modern day farmer
