Comments on 'My Sister's Keeper'
The general consensus was that this had been a book worth reading. Here are some of the comments on the book:-
"Intriguing title has echoes of the biblical reference 'Am I my brother's keeper'. It relates well to the issues within the book"
As a vehicle to allow discussion of the issue it was very successful"
"I enjoyed it because it made me think, feel and cry"
"I liked Brian, the father. He realised there were no real answers to the issue and they just had to make the best of the situation as it was"
"The mother made me so very angry throughout the book"
"Brian's fascination with astronomy, references to stars and starlight and even the fact that Anna was named after Andromeda was intriguing. Was the author projecting forward and upwards to the wider world and trying to say that no one knows what the future holds?"
"The symbolic role of fire in the story both because of Brian's job and Jesse's pyromania has echoes of re-birth and death"
The ending was contrived and too sudden"
"I felt the book followed a formula and was not written in a style that I like"
